If you are not familiar with Unikon System, it is the top in the field for timing.  It is affordable and the chips are water resistant and can be used over and over for years!  There are directions and how-to-use videos on www.youtube.com   The timing chips are secured on the feet of the bird, they are then logged into the computer by the Antenna (included in my package) they can then be set lose at any time and the data logger will automatically keep track of exactly when the birds return to the loft.  It stops the satellite time for each bird and records in the data logger.  The best part is, you don't have to be there!  The computer comes with a power cord or an adapter that can be hooked up to a simple battery.  Then, you can take your data logger and download everything to your computer.  There is even software that you can purchase that will do all the calculations for you from start to finish.
